Arches is Dropping Timed Entry: Here’s What It Means for Your Elopement

Arches National Park is retiring the timed entry reservation system for the 2026 season. On the surface, this sounds like a win for visiting the park. But if you’re planning for an intimate, intentional elopement, you might be wondering: “What effect will this change have on my elopement day?”

While the need for a reservation into the park is gone, a private experience in Arches is still possible it just requires a more tactical approach. Here is how we are going to pivot to ensure your elopement is as quiet and intimate as you’ve always dreamed of.

1. Sunrise elopements are now non negotiable.

Without the timed entry system to stagger the flow of cars, the park is going to fill up early. Giving way to heavier crowds and potential for the park gate to close during peak times if the park gets too full. To get that “we’re the only ones here” feeling, we are going to enter the park before sunrise, By the time the casual tourists are finishing their hotel breakfast, you’ll already be finished with your vows and sipping coffee at a trailhead.

2. Permits are Still Mandatory

With all this in mind, Arches does have some rules on where you are allowed to hold your ceremony. These spots include, Double arch, the Windows, La Sal Mountains Viewpoint, Park Avenue, Panorama Point, and Devils Garden Campground Amphitheater. I’ll help you navigate the paperwork and permits to ensure your ceremony is legal and protected. Something to keep in mind when eloping in Arches even with a permit for these locations you will not have exclusive access to the locations. making choosing the right time of day crucial if you crave privacy.

3. Picking the right day

Not only is picking the right time of day important for a smooth experience picking the day of the week is just as important. Trying to elope on a weekend, crowds would be the equivalent of going to Disney world. By skipping the weekend rush and opting for a Tuesday or Wednesday, you’ll beat the weekend crowds and find that slow paced atmosphere you’re looking for.

4. Why an Expert Guide Matters More Than Ever

Your photographer needs to be your scout and strategist. My job is to find the pockets of silence that keep the crowds down, so you can be fully present and immersed in your elopement day. If this sounds like you, I would love to chat about your elopement day

XOXO. Alyssa
