Southeast Missouri elopement stays: Sawyers Landing

When it comes to your elopement day, it’s crucial to plan your adventures so the day moves at a healthy, grounded pace keeping everything intentional, personal, and stress free.

What I’ve found that truly sets an elopement day up for success is starting at a solid homebase. One that is comfortable and gets you excited to start the day. Somewhere that you’re looking forward to winding down for the night roasting smores over a fire.

Whether that’s renting a unique Airbnb or staying in your own home, your basecamp sets the tone for your entire day. That said, I almost always suggest booking an elevated stay. Leaving the responsibilities and chores of home behind allows you to completely check out of real life and focus on what actually matters: each other, and having a badass elopement day!

The Ultimate Stay

For couples leaning toward Southeast Missouri, I HIGHLY recommend checking out The Station at Sawyer’s Landing!

This six acre property was formerly part of the Mark Twain National Forest. It’s an eloping couple’s absolute playground. This family owned spot kept and repurposed original historic buildings from 1933. They even renovated the old ranger station into an incredible two story cafe and bistro. Hands down, they serve the best avocado toast I’ve ever had.

They offer over 10 overnight stays in their adorable “tiny town.” Options include the original National Forest firehouse, cozy A-frames, luxury yurts, and luxury RVs. Every stay is different and thoughtfully designed from hot tubs, hammocks, firepits etc…. It gives you that immersed in nature feel without sacrificing a single comfort.

I’m also especially excited for their newest addition: a full-scale wellness center called The Well (opening late 2026). They’ll offer multi-steam saunas, massage therapy, mineral soaking, hydrotherapy, infrared heat, salt rooms, and cold plunges.

Sawyer’s Landing is the ultimate basecamp for your day.

How I would plan your elopement here

Picture this: You wake up early with the sun after a restful night. You stroll over to the cafe for early morning coffee and breakfast. You can soak in the quiet from the cafe’s decks or take it back to enjoy on your private patio.

Grabbing a killer breakfast right on site is an underrated luxury. You don’t have to drive off-property for subpar food and rushed service. Getting to slow down and exist in a peaceful space together is the dream.

Once open, The Well will be an insane addition to an elopement itinerary. Start your morning by writing our vows and getting breakfast and coffee at the cafe. Get pampered with a couple’s massage before dressing up.

explore the surrounding areas like locals shuts-ins and hike elephant rock for your ceremony. At the end of the day come back after a full day of making memories to unwind with a mineral soak.

It’s cozy, intentional, and feels like the luxurious retreat your elopement should be.
